Genius Bloggers Toolkit

Genius Bloggers Toolkit

2019 Genius Bloggers Toolkit (Post contains affiliate links).

I have had my blog for almost two years (since August 2018), and thanks to some of the most amazing classes I've taken, I have come a long way.

If you've been around for a while, you know how much my emails and my blog have improved over the last year.

I have learned SO MUCH in the past two years that I am astounded. But I know it's not me!

It's because this is where God wants me.

Deciding to do this blog thing isn't a new idea.

Over 10 years ago, I started feeling led in that direction. I took college graphic design courses (at $400 a shot–for just a few weekends of teaching), and enrolled in online Photoshop classes–but never finished them (another couple hundred bucks down the drain).

I also tried learning about how to help people find me on my blog, though I really had no idea what I was doing at the time.

By the way, that's called “SEO” or Search Engine Optimization. That cost me $350 and resulted in no blog at all. 🙁

I had so many ideas about what I wanted to do, I just couldn't narrow it down. It went from Russian collectibles to handmade cards and collectibles to Creation and Culture to 6-day Creation. I even tried to focus on just nutrition. However, I couldn't pick just one topic. Plus I didn't have access to the sources I needed to create my own website and I couldn't afford to pay someone else to do it for me.

I sold on E-bay for a few months and I made some sales, especially at Christmastime.

But I spent WAY more than I earned due to the fact that I made handmade items. If you've ever created a handmade card, you know it takes more than 10 minutes to make. Plus you make each one unique. Well, try to get people to pay more than $2 to $3 for a card. Even then there's no way you're going to make any kind of profit.

They don't call them starving artists for nothing!

Fast forward 10 years later. I was homeschooling my son and came across Build Your Bundle. I purchased “Blogging Basics Bootcamp,” by Heather Bowen and off I went. And I had my blog up and running and even getting some traffic in October of 2018.

As the result of my connections with Heather, I've learned that

There is SO MUCH stuff available to someone like me (or you) who wants to get a blog up and running,

Maybe just because you have a message you want to share or because you're hoping to earn some extra money to help your family make ends meet.

I'm not going to lie to you. It takes time and money and hard work. What I will tell you, however, is that there are awesome deals out there to make it much less expensive and time consuming to get started, if that's what you really want to do.

Just this past April, I took a risk and purchased the 2018 Genius Bloggers Toolkit during a Flash Sale.

I AM SO GLAD I DID because it was an amazing deal.

I haven't even gotten halfway through the amazing e-books, e-courses, and special discounts that were included in this kit.

2019 Genius Bloggers Toolkit

I have checked EVERYTHING in the 2019 Genius Bloggers Toolkit. And I promise that EVERYTHING is brand new. Which is a good thing, because the only negative thing I can say about the kit I purchased in April of this year, is that due to the Flash Sale nature (it wasn't brand new), there were 2 or 3 products not available or expired. Even with that, there was just so much good stuff that I still feel like I got the most amazing deal!

Here is just one example.

I changed my email service provider (ESP) to ConvertKit as the result of The 2018 Genius Bloggers Toolkit, which included 3 months of ConvertKit for free (normally they only give you 14 days free).

I switched from my old ESP in April and it has made such a difference in my ability to do what I want when I send you an email.

And I thought I was saving money with my older, cheaper ESP! However, the other less expensive ESP resulted in me having to purchase upgrades which in the long run probably cost me more than what I'm currently paying.

Some numbers:

ConvertKit charged me $49 per month based on the size my email list was at the time. So we are talking over $100 in savings just for that one thing! (and the kit was only $97). Thus, this one thing ALL BY ITSELF made up for the cost. But this was only the beginning!

One of my other favorites that was included in the 2018 kit was the “E-book by Number E-course,” by Start a Mom Blog. That class helped me to start and organize my Meal Planning for Kids Curriculum. This e-course sells for $97. So, those two things alone were worth $200.

Now I don't want to spend too much time talking about products that aren't available in this year's Toolkit.

Remember I said everything is new?

This is a good thing, because things get outdated VERY QUICKLY. So having the latest is always important when investing your money in a project.

For example, Katie Hornor, who is my blogging coach, has included her 5-day Premier Your Course Idea in this years Genius Toolkit. I've gone through this course, and it is currently selling on her Teachable site for $297.

Stuff to help with Business Planning, taxes, organization

Entrepreneurship of Our Children

Entrepreneurship and Our Children

Entrepreneurship and Our Children

Entrepreneurship and our children.

I've been thinking a lot about entrepreneurship lately. (post contains affiliate links).

My son, Nathan, is far from being a typical learner, and he has some unique talents and abilities that don't necessarily show up in traditional school testing.

Many of you saw the train clip he made a few days ago. (And if you didn't, because you haven't subscribed to my email list yet, fill out the form below so you don't miss anything else)! This kind of stuff seems to come naturally to him. The only difficulty is getting him to do stuff that isn't in his current special interest area.

However, it is occurring to me more and more that he doesn't have to have a lot of different things going on.

All he needs to do is find one niche he can concentrate on. Something that he is really good at.

And he can start his own little business doing whatever it is. For example, making videos of trains, posting on You Tube, creating clip art, and selling it on Etsy. That, in essence, is what entrepreneurship is all about.

As Nathan gets closer and closer to working age, I'm finding it to be much more uplifting and much more satisfying to know that he is learning things that he will actually use when he is out of school.

Sure he needs to be able to read and write, understand math, science and history. And he is getting schooled in all of these subjects.

However, the life skills he needs to learn, such as how to budget, how to prepare food, how to create his own products, and how to better interact with others. All of these things he's also learning. And they will serve him much better as an adult than just focusing on the book work.

Since he's going into the 9th grade this fall, I've been thinking more and more about what he will be doing once he gets to the point of starting a career.

And, this blogging thing I've been doing for the past year has given me new trust in the ability of people to do anything they want. Especially if it means thinking outside-of-the-box.

This is why I believe it’s important that we as parents consider entrepreneurship as a possible path that our children may take.

Consider these statistics:

  • Two out of every three jobs created each year are created by entrepreneurs
  • Half of Americans either own or work for a small business.

I don't know about you, but I'm thinking that we as parents should give this entrepreneurship idea some serious thought! With all of the changes that are going on in our country and worldwide, ignoring these facts could lead to our child’s detriment!

So ask yourself: Am I training my children to think like entrepreneurs? Or am I instead training them to think like workers?

The traditional school system tends to teach children to think like workers. And unless we are outside-the-box thinkers, we tend to try to emulate that system in our own homeschooling. I know I did and I still struggle with this concept. But I'm spreading my wings out more and more each year, and I know that you can too!

We need to remember, that a system intentionally designed to create workers who obey orders without thinking, is the absolute opposite of Entrepreneurship.

This is why I was so excited when I first heard about lifechooling! Every year, since I started homeschooling Nathan in 4th grade, I've been gravitating toward this way of thinking without even realizing it.

I have found that by giving my son plenty of free time to explore his God-given gifts, not only am I encouraging him to be creative and think like an Entrepreneur. I am raising a much happier and well-adjusted child.

So, beyond giving your children free time and the chance to explore their talents and abilities, how can lifeschooling help you teach in a way that helps your children become the Entrepreneurs God designed them to be?

This is the purpose of the 2019 Lifeschooling Conference, July 11-13.

To help encourage you and give you tips to help in your important calling of raising children who are happy, well-adjusted, free to be who they were called to be, and true Entrepreneurs in their own right!

There will be speakers who really know their stuff when it comes to entrepreneurship!

So, if you want your kids to not just learn academic facts, but you also want to help them learn how to make a six-figure income without swapping hours for dollars, then you need to attend this conference!

The Lifeschooling Conference is a unique, 3-day, virtual event where pioneer homeschoolers, as well as modern leaders in the movement will come together to show homeschoolers how to “merge life with homeschooling.”

Topics include not only entrepreneurship of our children, but also:

Merging everyday activities with homeschooling

Lifeschooling through mentorships, in the younger years, and in the teen years.

and much more!

Not only that, but you will also get:

Daily Facebook Live devotionals from Ana Willis of “They Call Me Blessed”!

Facebook Live Q&A with speakers after their video sessions, so you can get your questions answered!

A swag bag worth hundreds of dollars (if you choose the All-Access or Premium Access ticket)!

And you will receive a reminder email when the conference draws closer and when it is ready to start. Not only that, but you can participate in our Facebook group (In fact you don't even have to sign up for the conference to participate in the group–I didn't know this until this week). So if you aren't ready to sign up because you want to know a little bit more, you can join the Facebook group here. I will be there, and hope to see you there!

Click here to join us on Facebook. I know you don't want to miss this! The group is awesome, with all sorts of amazing people participating. And it's not a huge group either, currently less than 200, if you're a bit shy, like I am.

Sorry this is so long, but I'm really excited about this conference and you should be too!!!!!

Hope you have a great day and weekend,

I realize I am not a teen, though sometimes I feel like one. 🙂 However, when I had the opportunity to try the Etsy Master Class for Teens in exchange for a review, I jumped at the chance.

I have been trying to get going on Etsy for a few months now. And I had tried previously with no success.

This was why I was excited to learn that I could take an Etsy Master Class to help me do better on Etsy.

I must say that this class will most definitely help your teen (and you if you are creative) get started on Etsy.

And if your teen has beautiful handmade products, she (or he) will be successful at selling them.

All of the tools and directions are included in the Etsy Master Class for Teens.  Your teen will not only have their store up and running by the end of class, but will have a better handle on the business side of things.

A full 70 plus page workbook is included with the class. This workbook will help your teen sort out new ideas, brainstorm, plan, and glide easily through the process. The workbook complements the videos.

If your teens have never set up a store before, they can use Abby's link and get 40 free listings. That alone is worth 8 bucks. Which reminds me. Of course, the class can be used by more than one person. So, every separate store set up by a unique individual, as long as you use Abby's link, will get 40 free listings.

Some Highlights:

  1. In the first module – Abby gives you a background of where Etsy came from, how long they've been around, how it works, etc.
  2. She recommends several excellent books, one of which I read and found enormous value in. The book, “My Story Brand,” helped me to sharpen my focus and to gain further insight into how to reach my readers and better assist them.
  3. She provides an outline for how to set up your Etsy store as well as 40 free listings, like I mentioned before.
  4. Abby provides guidance and worksheets (click here for a sample) to help with keyword and tag research (as well as defining what these terms mean).
  5. There is help on how to determine the best price for your products; how to create profit margins, etc.
  6. You will receive extensive advice on creating better photos, including where to go to get the best lighting, the best tools to use for great photos, and more.
  7. Help with creating a logo (which I used and now am very happy with).
  8. A log sheet for keeping track of time spent and work on class.
  9. And Much More.

Speaking of which, your teen can earn high school credit for this class.

Up to 1 full unit of high school credit can be obtained, depending on your state's laws, and how much time your teen spends on the class. There are forms to fill out to help with recording keeping for this.

Direction on how to use keywords, tags, and how to determine price is included, and will provide valuable insight on how to market your product so that people actually see it on Etsy.

Abby also provides assistance with creating logos. I found this section particularly helpful because I had been struggling with finding the right look. After going through the section on logos, I actually found a logo I like and will probably stick with. That was very satisfying to me!

Another helpful topic was her section on photos, lighting and photography.

As you know, I take a lot of pictures. However, many of the pictures are not up to the best standards. This is because my husband and I lack experience. After gaining wisdom from Abby's experience with photography, my husband, especially, is well on his way to making outstanding pictures.

After going through this awesome class, I decided Etsy is not the right platform for my products because they are all digital.* However, I most certainly did not waste my time. I learned many valuable skills and insights that I am applying to my blog and other areas of my life. My husband also completed parts of the master class and learned as well.

*UPDATE 5/4/2020 – Abby updated her course to help with selling digital products. YAY!

Also, when my son is in high school. I plan to have him work through this class for high school credit. So that's three people taking the class for the price of one. When you consider the fact that an unlimited number of people in your household can take the course, the value seems even greater.

To give you a little tiny taste of the course, here is a brainstorming sheet to get your teen started. AND last but not least, here is a 20% off coupon available through me only.

The code is homeschooldietmom and will only be available for a limited time.

Not ready for Etsy? Want to try to make some extra cash selling on Ebay? Well Abby also has a mini-course that you can take (or your teen can take) to learn how to sell on Ebay. Click here to check out the EBay mini-course now.
